Pioneer Heritage

Across the street from the Buena Vista County Historical society is the Pioneer Heritage Exhibit, including an 1872 country school from Elk Township and a Scandinavian-style oak log house built by Halvor Dahl in the same period. The house was built as a homestead near Rembrandt, Iowa.

Visitors can tour these historic structures and see firsthand how early life in Iowa was.
