The museum is funded through membership dues, fundraisers, applied-for grants and tax-deductible donations.

Buena Vista County Historical Society is supported by local businesses at the Business Membership level of $50 per year.
The museum accepts donations of items of specific, local historical value. While we would love to give every piece a good home, we are limited by space from exhibiting every item permanently. If you have something you feel the museum would be interested in, please contact (712) 732-4955 or (712) 299-4424.
We do accept donations for our annual garage sale fundraiser and book sale. Follow us on Facebook to learn when we are accepting donations.
The volunteers at the museum are unable to provide appraisals for antiques.
Museum Hours
The museum is currently open Tuesday through Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM or by appointment. Please call us in winter to check on our hours, or to schedule an appointment. The museum phone number is (712) 732-4955.
